The Responsible Retailing Forum (RRForum) has completed a study using “pseudo-intoxicated” mystery shoppers to evaluate the SSTOP program (Stop Service to Obviously-impaired Patrons) to help bars and restaurants reduce over-service.
Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services (MC ABS) has again partnered with the Responsible Retailing Forum (RRForum) supported by a national award. The innovative Spot the Mystery Shopper program was developed to assist alcohol beverage license holders improve staff performance in preventing under 21 sales.

In summer 2016, RRForum and the International Town & Gown Association issued an RFP to ITGA members to take part in the development of a comprehensive College Alcohol Responsibility Program for college communities. Six major universities and their host cities and towns participated in a program that combines the successful strategies that RRForum has developed for preventing underage sales (21 Matters™) and over-service to impaired patrons (S-STOP™) in its NIAAA-funded research. RRF Field Services LLC, the research arm of the Responsible Retailing Forum (“RRForum”), has received a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Award from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) to study the effectiveness of a new program to assist alcohol beverage licensees to recognize and refuse service to intoxicated customers.
Public Policy Forum has awarded the Milwaukee City Attorney’s office, Marquette University, MillerCoors and Responsible Retailing Forum with its 2015 Salute Award for Public-Private Cooperation in the successful implementation and expansion of the Milwaukee Respect 21 program.
Every time we help a retail licensee correct inadvertent sales or service to a minor, we know that we’re actually protecting their licenses, and in changing their behavior, we’re protecting our communities. Responsible Retailing Forum has enabled us to move the needle. We believe that we’re making a difference and we can actually measure that.
Today, responsibility is more than just a tagline or a slogan. It’s action. You have to go the extra mile to make sure you’re being a responsible member of your community — a responsible retailer — and make sure that every sale you make to every customer is a legal one.
